She Who Flies: Mathilde Gremaud

From the major knee surgery that almost derailed her career in 2017 to her coach unexpectedly leaving for another athlete, family heartbreak, and coping with anxiety - no subject is off limits. Through her own voice and interviews with coaches, family and rivals, the documentary reveals the mental strength, resilience and preparation behind Gremaud's record-breaking achievements - inspiring young athletes and giving an intimate look at what it takes to succeed at the highest level. "I believe that winning and failing are just what I'm going through to become a better version of myself," says Gremaud. "It's definitely through my sport and everything I go through that my person is being shaped. I want to be able to share that with people, and I want to try and inspire them." At just 25, Gremaud has already built a legacy in her sport. Besides raising the bar for women by landing tricks like the Switch Double Cork 1440 - two flips and four horizontal rotations, launched and landed backwards - she has captured two World Championships, three X Games titles and Olympic gold, silver and bronze, not to mention her history-making trio of Crystal Globes. She Who Flies delves into the mindset of a champion, who continues to push the limits of freeskiing and has become a powerful voice on mental strength and resilience. It's her duality that makes the story so compelling: seemingly fearless in competition, yet carrying deep emotions. "You won gold and it's a big, big high. At some point it hits that, 'This is very positive, but now I'm empty,' and you don't know what to do. As you reach the highest you can reach, you ask yourself what's next," Gremaud reflects. Despite these moments, she finds her mental comeback, embracing new challenges, testing herself at the next level.
