Every morning at dawn Serge, a radio journalist, leaves to prepare the seven o'clock news broadcast. But first he makes a little detour to spend a few intimate moments with his mistress Mathilde. As he leaves her home, it is still dark and pouring with rain, and he hits someone with his car. Distraught, Serge flees.
